Mat is transparent so appliqué shapes can be placed perfectly and pressed. The mat is slightly tacky to keep pieces in place. When using a glue gun, globs of glue will flake off easily protecting your table underneath. Mat can be cleaned with soap and water or placed in a dishwasher.
